LT.(SEAL) Michael P. Murphy 

Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy (aka "Murph" and "was a US Navy SEAL who was born May 7, 1976, in Smithtown, NY. Murphy joined the Navy after graduating from Penn State University in 1998, and he went on to complete Basic Underwater Demolition/EAL (BUD/S) training in 2002

In 2005, Lieutenant Murphy was deployed to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. On June 28 of that year, he and his team were on a reconnaissance mission in the mountains when they came under heavy fire from Taliban fighters. Despite being heavily outnumbered, Lieutenant Murphy risked his own life to call for backup and ensure the safety of his team. 

 

Tragically, Lieutenant Murphy and two of his fellow SEALs were killed in action during the battle. In recognition of his bravery and selflessness, Lieutenant Murphy was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor, the highest military decoration awarded by the United States government.

Lieutenant Murphy's legacy continues to inspire people around the world, and he is remembered for his unwavering dedication to his country, his fellow SEALs and his family. His courage, sacrifice and commitment to excellence embody the spirit of the United States Navy SEALs and his name will forever be synonymous with bravery and heroism.

Do NOT let this workout intimidate you. We have scaled down versions for all levels of fitness. The important part is that we complete this workout as a community and finish together, no athlete is left behind, in honor of Lt. Murphy and other fallen soldiers this Memorial Day.

No Vest

Complete the workout as prescribed but with no added weight via armor or vest.

1/2 Murph

Exactly how it sounds. You complete half the distance running and half of the reps prescribed.

No Running

For some running is too hard on their bodies.  We can sub out the run for a rowing machine which is less impact on the joints.

Event details

  • The workout will be held on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29th at Evolve  

  • There will be two separate (group) workout times.

  • The first group will start at 8:00am.

  • The second group will start at 10:00am.

  • Each group is limited to 20 people.

  • We ask that you arrive no later than 15minutes before your start time.

  • We encourage you to arrive earlier to warm-up sufficiently.

  • The cost to participate is $25 per person.

  • All proceeds will be donated to Warrior's Art Room
